Yesterday, we returned from a long road trip where we went in our van from home to the blue house in Donnelly, Idaho, then back through Oregon and up the coast.  Since we saw Tom's parents on the last trip, it is only fitting that we are now going to meet my parents on our next trip.  We are heading to Canada!

Friday, August 10, 2001.  Between last night and this morning, Tom and I fed our cats, refilled the bird feeders, did laundry, showered, slept in our own beds, and repacked for our trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  By 10:00 AM we are on the road to Canada and we are taking our van on I5 to make good time.  In Canada, we are going to meet my Mom, Aunt Cooky, Uncle Lenny, and Muriel Schwartz.  The next part was not in my notes, but Howard helped me fill in the details.  Mom, and Muriel are in Canada as they are going on an Alaska cruise and this is their starting point.  Uncle Lenny and Aunt have come along to see them off.  I think all of them were in California together previously.  I'm not sure about the Katz'.  This is the first time I remember meeting them.

At 1:00 PM we cross the border into Canada.  The trip took 3 hours which wasn't bad considering Friday summer traffic to the border.  At 1:40 PM we reach the Vancouver City Granville Best Western, which is where we are going to meet up.  At 5:00 PM we met up with Mom, Muriel, Cooky, Lenny & their friends Larry & Maxine Katz.  My notes are silent now.  I imagine we went to dinner but I don't have any memory nor anything written about that.

Saturday, August 11, 2001.  Tom and I slept in our Van and woke in the Shooting Gallery parking lot.  I'm wondering if that was the name of a bar or restaurant on Granville, Island.  Again, both my notes and my memory fail me.  It is 6:00 AM and too early to see the late sleeping relatives, so we get coffee and tea and drive around in Stanley Park.  We are happy to see the black squirrels there.

When we finally meet up with relatives, Uncle Lenny has a bad cold and Aunt Cooky and Uncle Lenny leave to go home to New York.  No more notes for this day.  I think it was because the relatives directed our activities and I was too busy being focused on them to write.

Sunday, August 12, 2001.  At 6:30 AM we wake in Parking lot next to the Hotel where the relatives are staying in Vancouver.  We probably spend time with them because I have no notes about our activies of this day until 5:30 PM when Tom and I start our journey home.  We cross the border at 7:00 PM and run into a line at the border and traffic on I5 going home.  This time the trip takes 3.5 hours and we are home at 9:00 PM.  Our odometer says the trip was 125 miles.
