Orange Gregory - Vegan Eggless Nog

Ingredients:

1 frozen over-ripe banana (between 3.5 and 4.5 oz) (NOTE 1)
1 cup hazelnut milk (NOTE 2)
1/4 to 1/3 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (use juice, Valencia, or blood oranges)
1 tablespoon agave syrup (if needed)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
.1 to .2 oz orange rind (zest) peeled off the oranges
sprinkle nutmeg

Instructions:

Blend the vanilla extract, orange zest rind, with the hazelnut milk.
Add the frozen banana and blend.
Add the orange juice and blend.
Pour into a glass and sprinkle nutmeg on top.

Serving Information:

Yields 1.5 cups nog (serves 1-2).

Yes, I named the drink for Dick Gregory.
If you are going to add rum, I recommend Captain Morgan (the least expensive Captain Morgan has the better taste) or Admiral Nelson's Coconut Caribbean Rum.

Notes:

NOTE 1:  You need to plan for this in advance.  I wait until the banana has at least some brown speckles, then cut it into 4 sections and place it in a plastic container in the freezer.

NOTE 2:  Pacific foods makes a nice hazelnut "milk".  If you are making your own, use roasted hazelnuts for the right taste.  In a pinch, a cup of water plus 2 tablespoons of roasted hazelnut butter will do.
Once I found myself without either hazelnut milk nor hazelnut butter, but I did have hazelnuts.  I shelled a bunch, toasted them for 10 minutes, ground them in a grinder, and used almond nutmilk plus the toasted ground hazelnuts and got a good flavor and texture.  The hazelnuts are an important part of the taste so try to include them however you can.
