What's the Big News?
My health hasn't been great these last two months.  I think a lot of it might be allergy related.  I've had to return to a gluten-free diet.  I'm hoping June will bring relief.

We have 3 raised planting beds in the backyard and the middle one has been used for strawberries since we made it 3 years ago.  Unfortunately the strawberries were overgrown and would have small fruit and get moldy.  I finally moved a few strawberries to a rotatable strawberry pot and got rid of the rest.  Now I have the middle bed for tomatoes and can put the cucumbers and melon in their own bed.  The herbs are still doing well in the bed by the boat building shed.

All the trees look like they could have fruit this fall.  So far we have only had two plums, and gotten no apples nor cherries, but that could change this year.  I just need a strategy for keeping the birds from stealing the cherries before I can harvest any.

In spite of the few very warm days we have had lately, the night air can still get very chilly.  I started my tomato seedlings late and they have sprouted only one set of leaves beyond the dicotyl first leaves.  They aren't ready for transplant outside yet.  Maybe another week....

LinuxFest Northwest was a blast!  I had such fun there.  The good news is that all of a sudden there are three or more times as many women (and minorities) as I've ever seen there before; plus young children:  both girls and boys!  I think this is an indication of even better things for the future of Linux.

What's new or updated on Alwanza?
The May colors are new for both the index page and this blog page.  I think I finally have a full set of monthly style sheets for both, using the new CSS form style with divs.  We recently contracted new high speed connection for our home.  When I get time I plan to script this blog page and move it to my home server.  Right now I'm overwhelmed with other projects.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
http://staff.washington.edu/meryll.  I've been busy.  I've been making instructional web pages for using the LinuxLab at UW Bothell.  I've been creating remote support scripts for both Windows and Linux.  I've been catching up on new technology.

What else is going on in my life?
I'm in the early process of a project I can't mention till it's complete.  It is taking up a lot of my time.

Any nature observances of interest?
The shade garden is a thicket and I'm seeing birds there I never saw before.  The Swainson's thrush has come out of the woods and is singing near my house.  Swallows came to our swallow house but we haven't seen them for more than a week.  I hope this year they will nest here again.
