Current Projects

What's the Big News?
Today Seattle is doing its very best rain forest impression.  Yesterday all the cherry blossoms were in early bloom.  My fragrant flowering clemetis is in early bloom.  My "yuletide" camelia is in its first abundant bloom ever.  It has been raining steadily for hours.  The birds have been singing wet songs.  Fresh growth is on all the trees and sprouts are popping up in new places.  My birdfeeders are sprouting sunflowers.

My daphne is in full bloom.  My sarcocca is done for the year.  For the first time since moving into this house in Bothell, Tom and I have heard frogs at night from our own front porch.

From now till April 15th I'll be working on personal accounting and taxes.  I feel under pressure about it as it is a lot of work to complete in a short time.

What's new or updated on Alwanza?
Not much.  This page is new.  I might be posting a few more recipes soon; and I'm thinking again about posting some more "How To Linux" stuff because I've been doing new things and documenting plenty.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
No change since last blog.

What else is going on in my life?
On March 7th, my second cousin, Sherwood Schwartz, was presented with a star on the Hollywood walk of fame by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.  Tom and I stayed with my cousin, Bruce and Julie in Los Angeles.  My brother, Howard and Susie, and their two daughters, Kymberlie and Symka (Symantha) flew from New York to join us.  And we all attended the presentation ceremony.  It was a great family gathering and lots of fun.  Sherwood and Mildred both seem ageless (from my point of view on a quick visit).

My friend Tammy and I went out dancing last Thursday night.  Saturday afternoon, my work-buddies Sheri and Ioana, and their friend Anne, all of whom are interested in forming a student Linux Users Group at UWBothell came over to my house to work out the details of the group charter.  That's going to be about the end of my social life until I get my taxes done; but last year I didn't have any time for fun at all.

Any nature observances of interest?
I've been seeing lots of ducks, pairs of mallards, geese, and chickens on my bicycle commute.  Last week I bicycled to the Seattle campus and back - like I used to.  I was exhausted and cold to the point of almost being sick when I returned home.  I definitely need to be getting more exercise.

The dandelion and shotwell are taking advantage of my need to be inside doing accounting.  They are proliferating throughout my garden while I am unable to weed due to time constraints.  After April 15th, I'll need to make up for lost time.
