What's the Big News?
Seven weeks (they said three weeks) after we purchased it, our hot tub spa was finally delivered last night.  Fits well on the platform.  Now we need to hire an electrician to help us hook it up.

The night before, someone stole two and smashed one of our (store bought) sugar pumpkins.  Whoever did it had to go all the way onto our porch to get them.  Creepy.  I reported it to the police.  We never had this kind of trouble in Ballard.  Last year they smashed more than 20 of the pumpkins we grew, weeks before Halloween.

We went to Haunted Trails in St Edwards park last weekend.  It was great!  We arrived at 7:00pm and were surprised that the line was already quite long.  As we drove up, we saw lights dancing on the hillside.  It turned out to be kids with green and purple light sticks.  Errie and exciting!  We went home, brought our own light sticks, played with a couple of them ourselves and handed the rest out to kids who didn't have any.  We got tired and left but returned before 10:00pm so we could be the last group of the night (by that time the young kids were all gone).  We were surprised to see that at 10:00pm the line was still long.  Finally got to the entrance, paid our $9 each and took a walk through the dark haunted forest.  The props were definitely worth seeing.  Most of the spooking was done by real people. There were places along the trail where it was one spook after another with hardly enough time to breathe between screams.  Yes, the Haunted Trails is for all ages!

From October 1st through October 10th, Tom and I traveled to the Northeast USA.  I finally got our pictures up from Salem, Massachusetts.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
The boss's trip to Dutch Harbor has been rescheduled for the first week in November, so he and I will be able to install the new firewall together.  That should work well.

I STILL haven't done anything about my ISP and Majordomo major headaches with SeattleLinuxChix.  I need to call tech support but I need to have some time when I can do it.  That hasn't happened yet.

What else is going on in my life?
I'm still running 3/4 of a mile, but I've slacked to at least 3 times per week.

There is still so much preparation I need to do for Hallows this year!  We are having a party again.  I need to put up the decorations and make lists!

Any nature observances of interest?
Our autumn colors are particularly nice this year.  It was that cold snap that started on September 1st that did it.  I guess that isn't too bad a consolation prize for a truncated summer.

Our sunflowers are blooming, but we never got even one pumpkin this year.  The junkos are feeding at our feeders again!  I made sure I have millet seed in the feed now for them.  They must feel perfectly at home because one even slept on our feeder yesterday.  They are only supposed to be ground feeders!

We never got to steel apples or nuts this year.  Maybe next.
