What's the Big News?
The big news all over the country is hurricane Katrina and the tragedy of rampant destruction by both nature and people in the New Orleans area.  Here is one source for news of what is happening there.

On a more personal note, we finally ordered our hot tub spa.  We ordered a Polaris from Apollo Spas.  We went to see several spas and liked the design of this model the best.  We even took a "wet test".

We noticed a couple of bad reviews on the web but we decided to go with the model we found anyway because of the design.  This design has several advantages including that it is both social and therapeutic and requires less water.  It has all the features I want.

It is supposed to arrive in 3 weeks and we have a little more preparation to do on its foundation, so that should be about right.

What's new or updated on Alwanza?
No change.  The September colors and this page are new.  I haven't gotten the pictures up from the STP yet, and it won't happen this week either because I'm too busy.

I noticed that I have several sections of my Web site marked with "noindex" metatags and I'm starting to remove those.

What hi-tech projects am I working on?
Yesterday I packed up a couple of laptops for our employees in New Orleans.  Looks like the cruise season is over early for that office this year, due to hurricane Katrina.  We expect that one of our other port offices will be handling the extra ships.  The New Orleans employees may not be able to return to their office for months.  Fortunately, all of them are alive and unhurt.  A couple of them lost all their property.

I still need to find someone in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, who I can use as a partner to help me install a new Firewall unit.

I STILL haven't done anything about my ISP and Majordomo major headaches with SeattleLinuxChix.  I need to call tech support but I need to have some time when I can do it.  That hasn't happened yet.

What else is going on in my life?
Tom and I will be visiting his parents in Idaho soon.

I'm running 3/4 of a mile once or twice per week, the other days I'm running half a mile. In all, I've been running 4 to 6 days per week, still not losing any weight.

Any nature observances of interest?
The summer blooms have all died.  The toadlillies are starting to bloom in my shade garden.  Out front, the sumac has some red leaves, the autumn-colored daisies, sunflowers, and coreopsis are all blooming.  No pumpkins.

The stellars jays have been regular visitors to the front porch, competing with the squirrels for the peanuts we throw.
